On normal weekday the opening hours for Danish banks are 10am to 4pm. Banks closing on Saturday and Sunday. Many banks stay later open on Thursdays to 5.30pm.
Most banks have 24-hour cash machines (ATM`s) - look for the word Kontanten. At Copenhagen Central Railway Station, and the Copenhagen city centre Exchanges are open outside normal business hour, and there are several 24-hour maschines near Copenhagen City Hall.
Denmark is not using the Euro (European currency), so you have to use kroner, when you shopping in Denmark.
The currency is kroner (DKK) and øre, and kroner is shortened to kr and DKK regarding to currency transactions. There are 100 øre in one kroner. In Denmark they have values of 1,000, 500, 200, 100 and 50kr. The coins have the value of 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1kr, and the smallest one 50 øre.
Regarding bank notes they are issued in denominations of: 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 Kroner. The maximum amount carrying in Denmark EUR 10,000, when travelling to or out of Denmark. This applies regardless of whether you travel to and from another EU member state or a non-EU member state.
There are no restrictions on the amount of currency you are allowed to import or export, but anything over €10,000 (approximately 75,000kr) must be declared.
