borgholm castle
Borgholm Castle "Scandinavia's most beautiful ruin" is a structure, which hardly leaves any visitor unmoved. Its size is overwhelming and fascinating location.
It`s not every day nature and architecture fused into an entity such as this and this unit was only further highlighted when the castle in 1806 was ravaged by a great fire and it only became “kalkstensmurarnas” naked forms left by all the former glory.
Borgholm Castle today are the ruins of the magnificent baroque palace, which Charles X built here in the mid-1600s. He is the only one of Sweden's kings who lived contiguous any length of time at the castle.
Borgholm Castle has been the very popular place to visit by many people through the centuries. From kings with their families, architects, castle wardens and guards, prisoners and jailers, bricklayers, crafters, painters, industrialists and much more.
