Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to take a break from a sightseeing tour of Copenhagen.

The garden covers 10 hectares and is particularly noted for its extensive complex of historical glasshouses dating from 1874. The most notable are the Old Palm House from 1874 including 16 metres tall and have narrow, cast-iron spiral stairs leading to a passageway at the top.

The 13000 species

The Botanic Garden contains more than 13,000 species and is arranged in different sections including Danish plants (600 species), perennial plants (1,100 species), annual plants (1,100 species).

The Rock Gardens with plants from mountainous areas in Central and Southern Europe, and The Conifer Hill including plants with coniferous trees.  One of the latest advances in the garden is a rhododendron garden.

Special greenhouse

The garden also presents a special air-conditioned greenhouse that can re-create environments suitable for Arctic plants. Botanical Garden also has a café, where you can order a sandwich and have something to drink.
