Ecco is a Danish shoe brand founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy. The company is known for its high-quality leather shoes and strongly focuses on comfort and functionality.

Ecco is one of the only shoe companies that owns and operates its retail facilities and production, and the vision is to be the best shoe company in the world.

The story behind the brand

Karl Toosbuy, the founder of ECCO, was a shoemaker who, in his early 30`ies, was a manager in a shoe factory in Copenhagen. But he wanted a factory, and in 1963 the family moved to Bredebro, close to Tønder in South Jutland and built the factory here, and today the company's headquarters is still in the town.

Today ECCO has employees from over 50 nationalities, and they make leather at their tanneries; they design, develop, produce and sell their products - so the company take responsibility all the way.
