The Gothenburg museum is an absolute hit for art lovers. The art collections are dated back to the 1500 century and up to today.


A museum created by the city

Unlike other major national art museums, the Gothenburg Museum of Art does not have its origins in royal or princely collections. It is the people of Gothenburg themselves who have created the museum through donations of works and resources.


Wide selection of masterpieces

Just to mention some great artists, whose can be experienced in the collections, you'll find masterpieces by Albert Edelfelt, Ernst Josephson, P.S. Krøyer, Carl Larsson, Bruno Liljefors, Edvard Munch, Anders Zorn, Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, Picasso Chagall and others.

In addition, the house has a number of other events and facilities like temporary exhibitions, family activities, lectures, workshops, guided tours and a shop.
