Kode Art museums in Bergen is one of the Nordic countries largest museums for art, design, craft and music.
KODE Art Museums of Bergen has a unique combination of art museums and composers’ homes, of contemporary art, historical objects, concerts and parklands and the museums have almost 50,000 objects ranging from sculptures, paintings, videos, musical instruments, furniture and fine design and craft.
The KODE museum consists of four museums (KODE 1,2 3 and 4) and in the homes of the composers Edvard Grieg, Ole Bull and Harald Sæverud.
It`s possible here to experience the masterpieces from Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Nikolai Astrup and Paul Klee - just to mention some few.

KODE 1 is the museum for fine craft and design with more than 35.000 objects. KODE 1 has a long history as it was opened in 1896 for a National Fair in Bergen in 1898.

Stenersens Collection
Right now there is a permanent and temporarily exhibitions exhibition of contemporary art. You will find the biggest museums shop in the ground floor next to the cafe Smakverket.

Here you can explore the new collection of works by Edvard Munch and many of his major works. This little mansion also houses a fantastic collection of art from the Golden Age in Scandinavian art, as well as historical interiors from the Bergen area. The exhibition includes highlights from the careers of artists such as J. C. Dahl, Harriet Backer, Erik Werenskiold and Gerhard Munthe.

By a specially designed laboratory, you will find the museum for children, where children are free in their own way to explore the world of art through play and experimentation. By entering the ground floor you will find an excellent presentation of paintings and paper works by the Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup. This part of the museum first opened up in 2003. Before that this part was used as the administration building for the electrical power plant company from 1938.
On the ground floor, you will also find a large presentation of paintings and paper works by the artist Nikolai Astrup, one of Norway’s most beloved artists.
