The Spanish architect Rafael Moneo designed the new building for Moderna Museet, after winning an international competition for the assignment. The event took place on 12 February 1998.

The museum present one of Europe's foremost collections of art from the twentieth century to today, featuring works by artists including Picasso, Dali, Derkert and Matisse. 

Moderna Museet is commissioned to collect, to preserve and exhibit and organise learning activities relating to all forms of 20th and 21st-century art.

The museum offers a first-class program of temporary exhibitions, a children's workshop, a store and an enjoyable restaurant with a beautiful view of Djurgården and Strandvägen.

You will find Moderna Museet at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm. It opened on 9 May 1958 in what used to be a drill hall.
