Royal North Zealand
Take a detour to beautiful green Northern Zealand, also know as Copenhagen`s backyard.
Especially during the summer, it is very recommendable to make a detour from the noisy busy capital Copenhagen to North Zealand. You will find the area only about 40 minutes drive from the main centre of Copenhagen.
The Danish Riviera
Here you can experience the green countryside, which has a rich and varied nature, offering lovely experiences all year round. On the long stretch of coast, there are wide, white, sandy beaches with wonderful swimming opportunities. This long stretch is also known as "the Danish Riviera".
Great royal attractions
Northern Zealand is known to be the home of some of Denmark’s greatest kings and a place where you can experience a royal retreat. Among others, Northern Zealand also hosts some of Denmark’s greatest castles.
Here you can find the largest Renaissance Castle in Scandinavia, called Frederiksborg Castle, which houses the Museum of National History and Kronborg Castle, also known as Hamlets Castle, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Furthermore Queen Margrethe the second has her summer residence in Fredensborg, where the beautiful Fredensborg Palace is located.
