The Norway in a nutshell® tour from Flåm can be taken as a round trip with a return to Flåm and is available from 1st May - 23rd Sept. The trip takes you through some of Norway's most beautiful fjord scenery. You can customize your own trip to include overnight stays and activities before, after or along the route!
The Norway in a nutshell® round trip from Flåm
Your start your tour by taking a fjord cruise from Flåm on the narrow Nærøyfjord and the magnificent Aurlandsfjord. The Aurlandsfjord is a picturesque fjord that offers stunning views, while the Nærøyfjord is a dramatic fjord surrounded by high mountains. Nærøyfjorden is one of the most narrow fjords in Europe and included on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
By the end of the fjord cruise, you arrive in the small village of Gudvangen, nestled in the innermost part of the Nærøyfjord. From here the journey continues with a bus trip through Nærøydalen, with its charming villages and scenic nature landscape. During the bus trip, you will travel down the steep hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva.
From Voss, the tour continues with a scenic train ride on the Bergen Railway to Myrdal, where you change trains to the legendary Flåm Railway. The Flåm Railway offers spectacular panoramic views to some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. The Flåm Railway will take you back to your starting point in Flåm.
Note that there are different ways of completing this tour. You can start your tour by taking the Flåm Railway and travel in the opposite direction as described above. You decide which option suits you best during an easy booking process - starting on this page!
Travel tip
The tour may be completed in one day, but we highly recommend that you take your time by adding overnight stays and activities along the route. That way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery or participate in exciting activities! For instance, a kayaking trip, hiking or even going on a fjord safari! There are loads of options for activities and hotels along the route, for example in places such as in Voss, Flåm and Gudvangen.
