Helsinki, the capital, is quite safe for tourists, and has been ranked the world's second safest city.
But just in any other large city Helsinki has some pickpockets and petty thieves during the summer season, but as a whole, Finland is very safe country.
In general the crime rates are very low in Finland, and normally safety issues are related to accidents with cars. Here you have to remember that it takes a little longer for emergency services to reach you, and bring always water and a flashlight with you.
