Shopping in Stockholm

Stockholm is the best-rated city for shopaholics. From the latest designer stores and independent boutiques to handy malls.

The main street Västerlanggatan in Gamla Stan, is full of souvenir shops and tourist restaurants. Then you will find some slightly more interesting shops, and you should turn down the small side streets filled with exciting shops.

The island of Södermalm is the place to visit. You will now find many smart clothing stores and galleries in the former working-class district.

The large luxury shops and department stores are located in the Norrmalm area. Here you will find i.a. Stockholm's central pedestrian walk Drottninggatan. In Hamngatan, you find PKhuset and NK department stores and several chains such as H&M and Zara.

The largest selection is in Biblioteksgatan and at Stureplan's shopping arcades if you are looking for luxury goods.

Åhléns Shopping Mall is at the intersection of Drottninggatan and Hamngatan and is one of Stockholm's most famous shopping malls.

Mall of Scandinavia is a pretty new shopping mall offering all kinds of exciting shopping and entertainment.

 

Buy trendy brands

If you want to look at the new trendy modern end of the Stockholm shopping scene, check out where Norrmalm meets Östermalm in the mainland of Stockholm.

The adjacent streets of Mäster Samuelsgatan and Biblioteksgatan are a hub for mid-range and designer Swedish brands, such as Whyred, Filippa K, Byredo, Acne etc...

Shopping on a budget limit

If you are going for cheaper chain shops and budget offers, visit the pedestrianised Drottninggatan, one of the city’s longest streets. Find offers like Granit (minimalist homewares) and Weekday (on-trend fashion).

A quick walk from here, and you will be in front of the historic shopping mall NK (Nordiska Kompaniet). This eternally elegant department store remains one of Stockholm’s most treasured institutions.

For designer fans, visiting Nordiska Galleriet at Nybrogatan is a good choice.
