The Historical Museum

At the Historical Museum, you will find the largest collection of items from pre-historic times and the middle ages in Norway.

In the Historical Museum, there are actually three museums under one roof. 

The historical collections

The most recommended are National Antiquities Collection, which has displays of Viking-era coins, jewellery and ornaments.

The 9th-century Hon treasure, the largest found in the Nordic countries is also very interesting. Presenting medieval religious art of different kinds.

In Ethnographic Museum, you will find exhibitions from Asia, Africa and America.

The Historical Museum is part of the Museum of Cultural History.
