The Ilulissat Museum

Ilulissat Museum is also polar adventurer Knud Rasmussen's birthplace.

The Ilulissat Museum is located in the town of Ilulissat in western Greenland. Here you get an insight into local history and, not least, the famous arctic life and numerous expeditions.

It features exhibits on the history of the area, traditional Inuit culture and lifestyle, and the natural history of the Ilulissat Icefjord and surrounding area. The museum also has a research library and a shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs and local handicrafts.

If you're interested in learning more about the history and culture of Greenland, the Ilulissat Museum is a great place to visit.

Dive into the story of expeditions, nature and culture, presented through images, shapes, configurations and movies.

The museum is centred on three permanent exhibitions: The town and village, the history of Knud Rasmussen and Arctic expeditions, and Sermermiut - the big settlement by the Icefjord.
