The Gothenburg Archipelago stretches along the coast like a string of pearls.
Gothenburg archipelagoes consist of dozens of islands, which stretch into the sea next to the city's coastline. Each of the main islands shares a few defining characteristics which make them attractive to first-time visitors and annually-returning guests alike.
You don't have to travel far from the city of Gothenburg to find charming villages, stunning nature and beaches. Seal safaris, sea-fishing and boat excursions are just some of the activities available here. Just a hop from the city, the Gothenburg archipelago is a great place to get away from it all and take a break.

You will find it is quite easy to reach the islands in the southern part of Gothenburg's archipelago. Only a short trip from Saltholm terminal in the southwestern part of the city. Take tram line 11 from Central Station and next to the terminal. You travel on the same ticket the whole way from the city, including the ferry from Saltholmen.
The most close islands are Styrsö, Donsö Vrångöog. Here you get a good view and impression of life on the West coast islands. The islands have charm and feature galore to set them aside from their neighbours, with variety enough to appeal to individual tastes. In the summer, you also can swim at the small beaches or take a beautiful walk by the sea.
