Opening hours

Normally shops are open from 10 am - 5 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am - 2 pm.

Of course, you will find extended opening hours in most shopping centres 10 am - 8 pm (Mon - Fri) and on Saturdays from 10 am - 6 pm.

In general, is extended shopping hours not so popular in Norway. Most shops are closed on Sundays. However, some souvenir shops stay open.

 


Where to shop

The recommended shopping streets in Oslo are Karl Johan, Bogstadveien and the new trendy Aker Brygge area.

In shopping malls like Byporten, Oslo City Shopping Centre and Paleet, you will find many famous brands, interesting local offers, and souvenirs.

 


What to shop

Knitting has a long tradition in Norway, and Norwegian sweaters are prized for their quality craftsmanship and unique, colourful designs.

 In Norway, jewellery is an old profession with more than 2,000 years of tradition.  Norwegian jewellery has a reputation for its high standards and quality.

Other popular Norwegian products are porcelain, trolls, pewter, silverware, hand-painted wooden crafts, reindeer skins, furs, glassware and ceramics.

Cash & banks

Always a good choice to have some cash on you; remember that most banks are open until 5 pm but have a 24-hour cash point (ATM) outside the bank.
