Copenhagen

1. NOMA ***

If you're familiar with the New Nordic cuisine, then you perhaps have heard of Noma. It is considered a flagship restaurant in the Nordic gourmet food scene and has been awarded the title of the world's best restaurant on five occasions.

In 2021, Noma was awarded a third star, and its co-owner/chef, Rene Redzepi, won the prestigious award for Best Mentor Chef. 

 

 

2. Geranium ***

Geranium is the first restaurant in Denmark to achieve three Michelin stars. The restaurant has also been ranked number one on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list and is run by Chef Rasmus Kofoed, who was voted the world's best chef in 2011.

 


3. Alchemist **

Restaurant Alchemist caused a stir even before it opened in the summer of 2019, thanks to chef Rasmus Munk's unique 50-course menu. Yes, you read that right - 50 courses! This innovative dining approach caught the Michelin judges' attention, and in its first year of operation, Restaurant Alchemist was awarded two Michelin stars.

The restaurant has continued to impress, and in 2022, it was ranked number 18 in the prestigious World's 50 Best Restaurants list.



 


4. AOC **

Copenhagen's two-Michelin-starred restaurant, AOC, offers an ultimate sensory experience through their inventive Danish dishes that aim to stimulate and activate all your senses.


 

 

5.  Jordnær **

If you're looking for a no-nonsense Michelin experience, Restaurant Jordnær is the place to go. The name literally means 'down to earth'. The restaurant is located just 10 km north of Copenhagen.

6. Kadeau Copenhagen **


Restaurant Kadeau Copenhagen has two Michelin stars. Kadeau is a small piece of Bornholm in the middle of Copenhagen. The menu is inspired by the specialities of Bornholm and based on Danish ingredients. The restaurant earned its second Michelin star in 2018.




7.Kong Hans Kælder**

Kong Hans Kælder, a restaurant in Copenhagen, was the first to receive a Michelin star in 1983. In 2021, 38 years later, it was awarded a second star.

 


 

8. Koan **

Kristian Baumann, the chef-owner, leads an engaging team in an open kitchen. Restaurant Koan in Copenhagen provide completely original and technically accomplished cooking from start to finish.




9. Jatak *

Restaurant Jatak is a new restaurant located in the trendy Nørrebro neighbourhood of Copenhagen. It was awarded its first star just six months after opening in 2022. The name "Jatak" translates to "Yes, please" in English.

 



10.  Alouette *

Located in the graffiti-covered corridors of Islands Brygge in Copenhagen, Restaurant Alouette was awarded one star in 2019, just a year after its opening. The inspectors praised the restaurant's sauces.

 



11. Formel B *

Formel B, a top-rated restaurant in Copenhagen, offers innovative French cuisine and changes its menus every fortnight. It is owned by Rune Jochumsen and Kristian Møller.





12. Marchal *

Restaurant Marchal is situated in the heart of Copenhagen, within the luxurious Hotel d'Angleterre. It offers a delightful combination of Nordic and French classics with a modern twist.
It can be quite difficult to secure a table, so plan accordingly.

 


 

13. The Samuel *

This restaurant in the waterfront suburb of Hellerup, northern Copenhagen, specializes in exquisite food and wine pairings. I

Aarhus

 

15. Frederikshøj **

Restaurant Frederikshøj, located in Aarhus, has been awarded its second Michelin star in 2022. The restaurant is known for its exceptional cuisine and is considered one of Denmark's top gastronomic destinations.

The credit goes to the chef Wassim Hallal, who has won numerous awards for his culinary skills. In the 2022 Michelin Awards, Hallal was awarded the second Michelin Star for his restaurant and received the prestigious Chef Mentor Award. 

 
 


16. Domestic * 

Restaurant Domestic serves mouth-watering dishes based on locally produced ingredients and with plenty of Danish hygge on the side. The restaurant is located in the heart of Aarhus, which makes this an ideal dining experience when visiting Denmark's City of Smiles.

Aarhus' restaurant Substans has relocated to a new location on top of Pakhusene. It has modern 1960s architecture and regained its Michelin star in 2021.

in Sønderborg

Restaurant Syttende in Sønderborg, on the south Denmark island of Als, received its first Michelin star in 2021. It is run by Jesper Koch and is located on the top floor of the Alsik Hotel, offering a panoramic view of Sønderborg town.
