Vøringsfossen

The Vøringsfossen Waterfall is one of the most visited attractions by the Norwegian Fjords.

Vøringsfossen in Måbødalen is Norway`s maybe most famous waterfall located by the Eidfjord in Hordaland, not far from Highway 7. Eidfjord is a small fjord connected with Hardangerfjorden.

Vøringsfossen waterfall has a total drop of 182 metres and is one of the highest waterfalls in Europe. The Vøringsfossen Waterfall has a free fall of 145 metres and a total fall of 182 metres

How to experience the waterfalls

Vøringsfossen dazzles tourists with its multiple waterfalls all covering the head of Måbødalen in Hardanger. Although there are numerous ways to experience the waterfall, most people view the falls from the top.

It is also possible and exciting to see Vøringsfossen at the foot of the waterfall, and it is quite incredible to see the power of the waterfall standing next to it.

From the main road, the walk to the waterfall is about 20 minutes, and the view at the end is a guaranteed reward.

The Vøringsfossen can be visited from Bergen by day trip, but most comfortable as a 2-day trip.

 


Vøringsfossen walking bridge opended in 2020

A walking bridge opened in August 2020 and has become the newest addition to the Vøringsfossen area. The bridge is made up of 99 stairs that are beautifully suspended 50 meters (164 ft) above the falls bringing you even closer to the powerful waters.
