The Lysefjord is surrounded by many natural wonders like the Pulpit Rock.

The 42-kilometre-long Lysefjord is located in Ryfylke in the county of Rogaland, about 300 km south of Bergen and about 25 km east of Stavanger. An excellent way to discover the fjord is by car.  The National Tourist Route Ryfylke starts at the mouth of the Lysefjord in Ryfylke. 

The Pulpit Rock and Kjerag plateau

The Lysefjord was carved out and shaped by glaciers during the ice ages. The Pulpit Rock and Kjerag are both internationally renowned tourist destinations. Hundreds of thousands visit the attractions every, and many visitors take the option to hike to the beautiful viewpoints of Pulpit Rock and Kjerag plateau.

Another good way to explore the fjord is to join one of the organised cruises. Discover the unique fauna, the animal life, the fresh air, the light, beautiful mountains and impressive waterfalls. Some cruises stop in a cosy fjord town, where you can explore the local culture, taste the local food, and buy souvenirs.

As mentioned, Lysefjorden is a popular hiking destination, but it is also recommended that you try other activities in the area, such as biking or kayaking.
