In the heart of Copenhagen, the largest shopping area is centred around the pedestrian street Strøget.
The street Strøget is one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets with a wealth of shops, from budget-friendly chains to some of the world's most expensive brands. The stretch is 1.1 kilometres long and runs from City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) to Kongens Nytorv.
When you visit Strøget, there is no doubt that the place is the most famous area for shopping in Copenhagen. Big international brands like Prada, Max Mara, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Hermès and Boss are represented here.
If you continue along Strøget down towards City Hall Square, where you find shops like H&M, Vero Moda, Ecco, Lego, Pandora, Weekday and Zara.
However, you cannot pass Strøget without seeing any sights. Look up and down the side streets during your shopping spree, and you will see several of Copenhagen's beautiful sights and attractions.
Sights like Helligåndskirken, Church of Our Lady (Vor Frue Kirke), where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were married. At Gammeltorv Square you find the Courthouse and the Stork Fountain (Storkespringvandet) nearby at Amagertorv Square.
Nearby Strøget by Amagertorv if you look across the canal, the Christiansborg Palace show up, where the parliament sits. Do not forget City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) with Copenhagen City Hall Tower and the beautiful Kongens Nytorv square with The Royal Danish Theatre and Nyhavn at the other end of Strøget. The pedestrian street is also a popular hangout for the city's street performers.
