One of the best ways to discover the Danish history is to visit one or more of the many Danish Castles, where some still are homes of the Danish Royal Family.

The Queen lives most at Amalienborg in Copenhagen, where also her son Crown Prince Frederik and mother in law Crown Prince Mary lives in a separate part of the castle.

The Danish Royal Family has different royal residences they use during the year. The Queen in Summer stays at  Fredensborg Castle in North Zealand, Gråsten Castle in Gråsten in South Jutland and Marselisborg Castle in Århus.

If you wish to see the crown jewels, visit the Rosenborg Castle from 1606 in Copenhagen close to Amalienborg Castle. In the Nordic countries, there are three Royal Nordic Monarchies  - in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Visit Kronborg - the Hamlet castle

The most famous castle is Kronborg Castle in North Zealand from 1574. It is an old royal renaissance castle, and it is world-famous for William Shakespeare`s Hamlet.
