National Aquarium Denmark

The Aquarium called "The Blue Planet" is not only Northern Europe's largest aquarium - it´s also one of Denmark`s design highlights.

Denmark's Aquarium is Northern Europe's largest aquarium and offers a unique experience for children and adults. It is located just a 5-minute drive from Copenhagen Airport and the Øresund Bridge - the fixed link connecting Denmark with Sweden - and therefore also easily accessible.

Options in the new aquarium

The new aquarium is characterised by its unique form, which has references to ocean eddies. Hence, the venue is inspired by the whirl streams of the sea, shoals of fish, and swirling starlings turning the sky black.

The idea is to create an experience of getting below the sea's surface and into a colourful world of fish and marine animals from all sorts of different climate zones.

The Blue Planet has water on all sides and is intended to give the visitors a feeling of being underwater.

The new building has five "arms" from the centre of the aquarium. The guests can choose their way around the aquarium to see the exotic animals, Ocean tank or Amazonas and Coral Reef.
